This message is on behalf of George Chen,

There's no need to reboot the WP after modifying the alarm table file.
Simply kill the "aa_wp50" process, which will rental the new *AAtab file,
just like rebooting the WP. It initializes the current alarms as well, so
the existing current alarms will disappear.
To install the new alarm panel file, there's no need to reboot the WP
either. Pref -16WP04 ascmd "loadalmpnl /usr/fox/alarms/16WP04AApan" will
reinstall the new alarm panel on station 16WP04.

Subject: Initializing an Annunciator Keyboard

Does anyone know if it is possible to initialize an Annunciator Keyboard on
a WP51D without rebooting so that when new points are added to a graphic and
the AAtab file is edited, the LED's on the Annunciator Keyboard light up to
reflect the changes?

We are currently cutting over an area of the refinery from Spec200 racks to
CP40's and FBM's that had been coming into the I/A via Interspec
Integrators. We installed graphics on the WP51's that referred to the
Interspec Integrator compounds and blocks. Now we are cutting these
graphics over to the CP40 compounds and blocks, which have different
compound names so that both sets of compounds can co-exist on the system
during the cutover process. After we finish cutting over a graphic and put
it in service, the Annunciator Keyboard lights no longer light up correctly
because of the new compound names. We cut over about 1 graphic per day, so
we are editing the AAtab files and rebooting the WP51's on a daily basis,
which is very time-consuming.

The official Foxboro answer is to reboot the WP51's, but If anyone knows a
quicker way, we would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Tim
