Hi Patrick & Patrick,

The restrictions in the init.user file are not quite what we need. We WANT
to be able to assign displays to buttons on the fly and save & load custom
display button  bars, so the all or nothing restrictions based on acl's
don't appear to be the solution for us.

The two problems we have are related to operators loading displays they
should not have access to either through Fox Select or other people's
display bars.<

The display bar popup menu allows the operator to assign Fox Select, Change
Environment, & Print Screen commands to a display button. We want to eliminate
these choices, either through environment restrictions (cumbersome) or by
removing these choices entirely from the popup menu (best). We still want to
allow assigning of displays, so banning all configuration or assigning does
not seem to be appropriate. If the display bar popup menu works like the
regular OpenWin menus there is a text file squirreled away somewhere with the
menu choices on it. Editing the menu would work great for us, but I have not
found it and have not seen any reference to it, so it may be hard coded into
FoxView.

The "load display bar" allows the operator to load any display bar they can
find. We would like to limit the operator to just those display bars that
were created under their own environment. Ideally the load & save display
dialog boxes would go to a specific directory and not allow directory browsing.
Each environment would have a different home directory for their display bars.
I don't know if this is possible or not.

In the old Display Manager and in FoxView we set the top menu bar so each
environment can access only their own displays. The display buttons work great,
and the operators like the ability to customize their own bars. Unfortunately
the "assign" and "load display bar" also allows them to glom on to displays
they should not get to.<

Hope this clears things up a little,

Stephen Murray<

P.S.; What is the title of B0193WL - I don't seem to have that manual number.
