I am setting up an automated backup system for some of our A[PW}51'bs.
I am backuing up:
/dev/md/dsk/d0
/dev/md/dsk/d4
/dev/md/dsk/d2
/dev/md/dsk/d5
Loooking at the /usr/local/dmp0_8MM script I also find reference to:
/dev/md/rdsk/d3, /dev/rsd0d, and /dev/rsd10d. These all seem to backed
up using dd, which make me think they are raw partions. can anyone
enlighten me as to what is stored on these partitions?
I suspect these may be the raw partions for use by Infomrix. If so it
would not make sense to back these up on a live system would it? Is
there a mechanisim for exporting this data to a flay file or some other
sort of consistent storage, before backing it up. I do this on my
Oracle DB"s using Oracles dump command, and then I backup that file on
my nightly backups. I would like to do somethign similar ont
eFoxboro's.
Cany anyone think of any other things that I should be backing up on
these machines?
On the WP's I am just backing up all disk artions, this should be
suficent there, right? There are no hidden places (suach as raw
devices) there are there?
Also what is /dev/foxboro on thes machines?
Thanks for any input on this.
