There are a number of ways to do this.
One possibility is to read your text file with Excel or other spreadsheet
program. This gives you a lot of control on how to break your format into
spreadsheet columns. You can easily rearrange the columns to your new
format. One particular advantage to using a spreadsheet is that you can
easily preview and edit your new list. When you are done, you can write
your data back as a .txt file.
If your data conversion is simple rearrangement and you want to completely
automate the conversion a short (should just be a few lines) script in AWK
would do the trick.
