It is possible to have a 70 Series box to backup to a remote server.
In Norton terms we are talking about the "Multicast" solution.
What is required:
A Windows (95/98/ME/NT/2000) "server" which runs the "Multicast server"
and (that's what we use) a boot diskette that has the drivers for the NIC
you intend to use and the Norton Ghost program (a DOS utility).

I don't expect this to work unattended because you must specify a "session
name" on the Multicast server.
The Multicast Client diskette can be created using the Norton Ghost
Multicast Wizzard. Explains itself I think.

We use this approach with our notebooks when we go to site. We can make a
backup to a large NTFS partition on the notebook, from the 70 Series
machine. Work great.
We have made a special DOS diskette where we can select the various commom
NIC's we use in the I/A series system.

Maybe anybody else has some bright ideas/experience with this matter?

Subject: Re: Remote Backups of AW70

I envision installing something like ghost on my server that is connected
to all of my 70 boxes with secondary NIC's. Then having the server to
automatically backup each remote box triggered by a scheduler. Basically
hands-off automatic backups of remote boxes by the server.

What do you mean with "remote backups"?

Take control of the remote 70 series station and make a backup (local or
remote)
or
Take local control of the 70 series station and make the backup to remote
location (a server for example)?
