Stick with a US based company. (Duh.) Most of the FX contacts are soft lenses, unless noted otherwise. I have about 4 pairs and love them. My daughter has wolf eye contacts and enjoys wearing them to her high scholol during homecoming (Mascot is wolves) along with her fully painted wolf face in school colors. (gray & burgundy) She's always a hit at school.

This is common as they're guarding theirs butts against lawsuits. You can order contacts without a prescription, but if you don't know what you're doing then I agree with Mark. See a doctor or read-up (in depth) on the care and feeding of contacts. If you don't care, wear and handle them properly, you can get some nasty stuff. Think about it: Do you want to put your sight at risk? If you already wear contacts, then the care is pretty much the same. BTW - Most FX contacts have about a 3 year life expectancy. Some are disposable and good for only 1 week. Read the fine print and ask questions.
