I cannot not believe that Joanne Gair uses Sharpies. :O I've heard that soft eyebrow pencils or lip pencils work fine but you should test it out on your arm first to make sure the color doesn't bleed with your paints (mostly white). I've also seen painters sketch out their work with a thin paintbrush and a near-skin-tone color of paint.
