Well... as a painter this site is viewed by a LOT of people and if my work is on there I want them to know that I painted it... it is advertising and marketing for me. Yes, it is a contest, but it is also an opportunity to promote your work and direct people to your website... and let them know where you are as well (hence the name, location and link.)
Yes, occasionally it crosses my mind that as a contest it would be "purer" if there were no names, but in the long run I'd rather be identified in the long run!
