Roberta, I've used the toothbrush more for fading a design into the
hair, but the priority of toothbrush versus sponge  might depend on
the type of hair. The toothbrush works really well on curly hair which
a sponge would find hard to contact all the directions and undersides
of the curls. maybe a combo of both would be prime for speed and full
coverage?
