Hey we live and learn. As a hobby (I suppose) I also enjoy doing wall
murals. I offered a wall mural for a children's room as an auctionable item
at our church fundraiser. The winner bid $15 which did not even cover the
cost for the paints much less the six hours for the mural. Oh well. I
learned my lesson. I still did the mural and considered it a lesson learned.
Artist efforts are rarely properly rewarded.

Subject: [fpba-assn] Re: donated service

Thanks to everyone for sharing your thoughts on this issue. I have now got
some great ideas on how to handle this the next time.

Year ago I donated myself, a clown for an hour B. D party or picnic. I
specified family event. I don't even remember what the event was I donated
it to. (?)
The winner called me a couple months later and wanted me for a family BD
party the same day I was to be in a parade. I was concerned about having the
energy but she said she had 9 grandchildren coming in from dif. states for
4th of July parade that passes right past her home and it was a special BD
party for one for them. Well, that was the parade I was in so I was glad I
would not have to travel far and since her grand children only gather
together twice a year I felt I should do it, even if I was tired and hot.
We arranged it so I have an hour break in between parried and party.

WWhen I went to the party these kids were so receptive and fun. As I was
departing the grand mother thanked me immensely as the girl the party was
for had cancer and the prognosis was not good. I had one very grateful
grandmother as she was able to offer something different for her
granddaughters party. And I was one veryy grateful clown to have been the
clown that got to do that party.

I just donated 1 hour Face painting to a fund raiser for St. Judes.

The lady at the location that was having a silent auction covered up the
value I had put on it. The bids were $5. $10. and winning bid $15.00. I am
wondering if it would have been unethical for me to do a buy back bid of
$25. on my own as I would rather make a donation of $25.00 I think then go
paint for $15.00. with the donation bid so low.

Any thoughts on this? I likely won't make a donation to this place again
(Not St. Judes) the place having the fund raiser as I think she could have,
should have raised more if she would have left the value showing on items.
It's for St. Judes so why not try to get the most you can....

Wondering,
Sara
