Dear Face Painters I seem to have the energy for a jam, long overdue here in the NYC area.
This is only preliminary, but I am asking those of you who might be interested to please respond back to me as to whether it would be possible for you to attend a face painting jam on the above date. A space has been found, at least right now writing this e-mail, upstairs at a magic store on W. 33rd St. & 7th Ave, NYC This means that you don't have to come to Brooklyn, for those who this would be inconvenient for. Penn Station is right there, and lots of trains connect to this area. The owner or an employee will stay an hour beyond his time, and it was my suggestion that each of us pay a $10 fee to cover an employee staying an hour over their usual closing time, PLUS a cleanup fee. I think that's pretty reasonable. The owner also asks that anyone actually face painting be covered by insurance. Most of us who do balloon twisting, face painting, temporary tattoos, etc. for a living or part-time, already are covered. I am going to look more into this because there are new face painters who haven't gotten insurance just yet (I think it will be fine, though), but that is what the owners are asking. This would be strictly face painting-related (meaning no balloon twisting or clowning) and we would gather together to share tips and tricks about the art form. If this becomes a REAL possibility (based solely on the response that I get back via E-mail), then it would be more directed towards what people are actually wanting to learn more of or share. Models would be available, mostly kids who come into the store and are directed to our face painting jam room. Plus I do sometimes have a big mouth and can easily go outside the store and tell people and their kids what wonders await them within the store - to be transformed through face painting! Please, please, please, please, please, please get back to me SOON. I have to tell the owner that it is a definite go. It is the only time that most of us are available, and the shop doesn't stay open passed 7 PM (they would stay open just an extra hour, until 8 PM, for us). Weekends, we are entertaining, and during the week, many of us have other employment. So at least for those who work in the area, you'd have possibley 2 hours of jam time. So please? Pretty please? Write back to me and let me know your level of interest with YES, NO, MAYBE. That would be so cool!
