This was the second year I face painted at the Newton Family Reunion on my
husbands side of the family.? Last year his cousin, Danny, was in his early
50's and nearing the last stages of lung cancer.?? He decided since he'd never
had his face painted before that why not get it done now. So I did a tiger on
his face.

?

Danny passed away a few weeks later.

?

We just held the 2009 Reunion four weeks ago.? One of the ladies told me that
Danny said "If nothing else at least the kids will remember me as having my
face painted like a tiger."? With that, I started to cry.

?

We touch folks lives in ways we never thought possible and in return, they
touch ours just as profoundly and enriching.
