Pashur's Workshop on the Waves My first ever Workshops on the Waves was a success!!! On the first day, we set sail from Miami and enjoyed a great lunch and dinner, amazing sunset (like the pic that Jerrie posted on the face paint forums), sampled rums, enjoyed the the pool and hot tubs, and then enjoyed a hilarious stand-up comedian while drinking tropical drinks such as the Lava Flow. On Friday morning, we started the day with a tropical workshop, learning how to do palm trees, parrots, hibiscus flowers, and more. During the workshop, there were some rocky waves and several people on the cruise felt it. All part of the adventure of course! At the end of the workshop, I gave the challenge of a Face Paint Scavenger Hunt of 25 tasks to paint and photograph (such as a pink heart on a man’s cheek, an octopus and a bald man, a finger painted turtle, a parrot out of dots, etc). That night was formal night and everyone looked great dressed up. A few of us went and played a few holes of miniature golf, and then returned to see the stand-up comedian's adult show... again over tropical drinks! Saturday morning, everyone embarked on their trip to Cozumel. Some went to the beach, some went snorkeling at stingray beach, some went shopping and some went on a tequila tasting adventure. Myself and a few others decided to go to the Mayan Pyramid City of the Tulum Ruins. We exited the cruise ship, hopped on a ferry, saw tons of flying fish hurling from the ocean into the air, and then arrived at the Playa del Carmen Riviera. From there, we were shuttled to to the Ruins which was on a breathtaking scenic beach. They were fascinating! We learned about the Mayan culture, about the Yucatan Peninsula and saw hundreds of giant iguanas roaming wild. After 3 hours at the Ruins, we were transported back to Cozumel, where we enjoyed lunch, shopping and drinking from coconuts and having monkeys stand on our heads. We returned to the cruise ship and ate dinner and then did a face and body part jam in the Promenade (the cruise ship mall area). On Sunday we had the Aquatic Design class where I showed how to paint sharks, fish, jellyfish, orcas and more. Everyone was sure to leave with several designs from both classes that they can use out in the field. Thanks to Jennifer Rice for posing for both of my workshops for everyone to view the demos and to Gina Niemi from www.WowFactorStuff.com who was on board and sold great supplies for everyone who needed or wanted them for their kit. Sunday night was the Pirate Party! Everyone came to dinner dressed up as pirates. Sam Bones chimed in with a pirate poem/toast. We then celebrated the birthdays of Donna Callaway (TX) and Henry Broder (NY) and the 41st anniversary of Karen and Dennis Dierksen (FL). We then proceeded to the Dungeon nightclub on board the ship, which had a Castle Dungeon motif with retro music playing. People danced and socialized and had a great time! The Scavenger Hunt was judged and there were 3 winners!!! Diane Spadola, Alice Wutzke and Alissa Dirato all won $250 towards Pashur Workshops. Frances Muslar came in 4th with 21 things completed on the list and she also won a nice prize as well. When everyone returned to their rooms, there was a $25 gift credit towards anything they purchased on the ship. On Monday, when we exited the ship, many people flew home, but myself and a few others enjoyed the beach at South Beach and made mermaid sand sculptures. It was awesome!!! I will be posting pics from the trip soon!!! Thanks to everyone who came on the cruise for my first ever Workshops on the Waves to Cozumel!!!
