Can you also design them in the Lazarus IDE ?
 

Not at the moment. I also have some patches to LCL to allow an 
application using them to work, which I will post to the lazarus list. 
To make the designer work with them the designer  will have to be 
modified to read the inherited lfm files before the lfm file for the 
form being designed.
