I am using the latest TortoiseSVN to get a full local copy of FPC, but --even thought I tried several times, with 'cleanup's-- I keep getting this error:

GET of '/svn/fpc/!svn/bc/9386/trunk/rtl/inc/wustrings.inc': Checksum invalid for compressed stream (http://svn.freepascal.org <http://svn.freepascal.org/>)

and, it fails.

I don't know what causes it, but it only happens for very few people. You can work around it by disabling http-compression for svn.freepascal.org <http://svn.freepascal.org> using the setting
  http-compression = no

See e.g. http://www.sjmdev.com/sjm/post/2010/03/15/tortoisesvn-error-options-https-connect-server.aspx for how to edit to that setting in TortoiseSVN.
Thank you, Jonas.

Now, it seems to be trickling along.

And, trickling it is.. at 1.74 kBytes/sec average, I am not sure I will live to see the whole repository fully downloaded :)
