It should be implemented as a {$modeswitch xxx}, not as a special directive.
Also, I think that only using result as an rvalue should be disabled by such a
patch (more or less like it was the case in TP). Using the function name as an
lvalue never causes an ambiguity, afaik.

I think a modeswitch is fine. We have a {$modeswitch result} as well (that
enables the use of the "result" identifier as alias for the function result),
which can be used in e.g. FPC mode in combination with this new switch.
