Do you use 2.4.2 as starting compiler?

I used the latest compiler I was able to install successfully:

Free Pascal Compiler version 2.5.1 [2010/11/22] for i386

Is this not allowed ?

It's not forbidden, but not supported either. Always use the latest release (currently 2.4.2) to compile trunk.

I in fact I don't know how to install a different fpc to compile the fpc
I am trying to use with Lazarus.

What OS?
