No. Better put it in target specific units, so that people know they are
messing with functions with portability issues.

No problem. I will do it so, I was leaning to this anyway based on the mails of Zeljko some weeks back where the OSX issue was already touched upon.

I just wanted to know the POSIX situation first, and now that's cleared up.
