I suspect that reference is in need of an update. The date at the top
says it is from 2015 (it doesn't mention avrxmega3). The GNU
reference for avr options

avrtiny. I would assume that the GNU documentation should be up to
date (it is copyrighted 2020). The current binutils on my Linux also
expect avrtiny.
