No, more monitors don't "make code better", but having two or three monitors makes the debugging/testing task much more efficient...

For me, at least at the moment the opposite is the case. I concentrate on a
defined, clear area without any major distractions.

Of course, it is good to have the option of placing the windows on umpteen
monitors. But this should not be the default setting.

Maybe you are then one of those code m*****ys that just crouch over their overpriced lightweight laptops with a fruity company logo. Your "clear defined area without any major attraction" idea goes out of the window as soon as you have to refer to your project documentation while you're programming. Or testing/debugging.
