The latest beta should not be on the front page: the front page is for the
casual visitor, not the experienced developer.
Well, that's the case when a news section would be useful. ;-) Even though
casual visitor might not want to download the beta / RC, information about
its existence _is_ relevant for them, because it says that there is
tangible progress and a new release should be upcoming. Possibly, we might
add something for cases like this (with clearly defined lifetime - relevant
when there is a new RC, not relevant any longer when the final release is
out)? After all - the new release should be announced on the main page once
available as well, not only by letting the use find that the download
button goes to a different release, right?
That's why the banner on the front page exists. It currently mentions 3.2.4,
but there is no reason why it would not be able to display 3.2.6-rc1 or
3.4.0-rc1
But I'll also add the current version number more prominently.
I'm looking into displaying the number of recent posts on the forum. If
anubis does not interfere, it should be possible.
I added 'last week forum posts' (In the time I added it, 2 posts were added :-))
The 'Free, open source' badge is now 'Stable version: 3.2.2' and when you
click it, you go to the download page. If you want a different color to make
it stand out more, that's easily done.
