There are at least two explanations  for this, one is that the 
sensor-only hardware is not sensor-only at all, the other one is that 
your laptop is available with both of the devices (possibly in 
different  hardware revisions) and thus it does have functions for the 
coprocessor version.

Or did the "save-on-device" option on windows really work? Not that 
windows would tell you if there was something to save from the scanner, 
you would probably need to enroll and then format your drive and see if 
the scanner still recognizes you.
