I've had personal experience of this working in libfprint on the  
Authentec AES2501 that ships in some HP laptops.   As far as I am  
aware this is a capability of the scanner, and not specifically an  
issue with the libfprint driver for the UPEK device, but there are  
many here who would know better than I!
