Running winXP under KVM I was able to get some traces for my fingerprint reader. At least the initialization phase. The fingerprint reader doesn't actually work yet under KVM, but at least it looks like the driver sees it and is trying to initialize it.
I'm still learning this stuff, so I'm posting this incomplete trace here in case someone sees any similarities between this and any other supported devices that might help speed up support. The fingerprint reader is device 4 on this bus. Device 1 is the hub. This trace was taken during bootup, and the first thing that happens when you log in is running Lenovo fingerprint reader software, which after the first try says 'device not available'.
