The error reported above, "-22", is often returned by bad initialization:
are you using device id = 08ff:1600 ? In that case, sometimes it happens
when
you put your finger still on the reader (not swiping it) for a couple of
seconds:
theres a null pointer somewhere i couldnt identify yet

The latest version i posted got slight changes in the reassemble algorithm,
which let generate better fingerprint images (discarding "blank" slices
which
occasionally occur during a swipe).

With Daniel patch setting the number of required minutiae to 10, i get
about 6 matches against 10 swipes with fingerprint_demo; i can
unlock the session quite often (unluckily the enrolment done with
gnome-about-me on fedora doesnt show the actual fingerprint image,
so i dont know if it is a good one or not).
However, the messages displayed in the dialog go crazy after a few
times, ie "verification timed out" while still waiting for the swipe with
the
password input disabled, or "swipe your finger again" while waiting
for textual password
