Hunters have been spotted around the Wayside Inn/Nixon Road area. Targets seem to be deer and coyote, but I assume that anything that moves is a target. Hunting is illegal in this area. The rules are:
* if you hunt anywhere, you must be 500 feet from the nearest dwelling. * you must have written permission from the landowner which may not be more than one year old. (No landowners have given permission.) * If the land is owned by the Town, then you must have permission of the Selectmen. (They do not give permission.) * You must have a valid hunting license for deer and it must be deer season. If you see anything suspicious, *please* call the police immediately. Also, keep an eye out at nighttime for cars parked on the side of the road. In particular we have been having problems with one individual who has a weapons charge against him and who is scheduled for a trial in March. He has threatened one neighbor. The police are willing to help but they need to be called when appropriate. -- -Time flies like the wind. Fruit flies like a banana. Stranger things have - -happened but none stranger than this.
