For what it's worth, I only raised the question of appropriate topics because of the religious nature of the posting-- the one inviting everyone to a prayer service for peace with Iraq. Perhaps I was not clear that I, for one, would welcome discussion about world affairs! Though it is mot mine to decide, I was the one who opened the thread. I was uncomfortable with:
(a) invitation to any one religion's event *with* the implication that we might all agree on *how* to maintain/obtain peace with Iraq (I may have inferred more than was said) and (b) anything that says "forward to everyone you can" I think I sent that only to Steve and the poster, not wanting to flood the list. I appreciated Steve's clarification and probably should have sent it to all, in the beginning.
