For what it's worth, I only raised the question of appropriate topics
because of the religious nature of the posting-- the one inviting everyone
to a prayer service for peace with Iraq. Perhaps I was not clear that I,
for one, would welcome discussion about world affairs! Though it is mot
mine to decide, I was the one who opened the thread. I was uncomfortable
with:

(a) invitation to any one religion's event *with* the implication that we
might all agree on *how* to maintain/obtain peace with Iraq (I may have
inferred more than was said)

and

(b) anything that says "forward to everyone you can"

I think I sent that only to Steve and the poster, not wanting to flood the
list. I appreciated Steve's clarification and probably should have sent it
to all, in the beginning.

Yours, in
peace, love, harmony, free speech,
determined avoidance of lockstep conformity,
very moderate speeds past Carter Drive,
refraining from littering,
a little more chicken poo in my compost heap,
grateful acceptance of leaf-bags left in our driveway (any time)
economic justice, good diction,
and
gratitude to the generous people who inform us about issues like the
bilingual education bill,
