And why there's such a fuss going on up there this week. Well, don't blame yourself, virtually no one else did - not even the authorities paid to watch everything. But it's a demand - a revolt - to put the cuffs on the Rogue Developer who has a yen to do what he can et away with. The "RD", aka Christopher Kotsiopoulos, has a permit to build homes on Carter Drive in Doeskin II Estates - from which you can look right in on the Boston Common on a clear day. Rogue Developer wants very much for those buying his as-yet-not-built homes to do that . . . . at all costs, to anyone else. And, by gosh, no matter what he's imposed on neighbors, he's gotten away from it so far. Again and again. The view. It's the view that counts. To make sure it will be just right for Doeskin II Estates, he knew what to do : Simply cut down trees on others' property below on Carter Drive.. There - that does it. Good view, made better; another took the loss. No one was there to stop him break the law. Naturally, his upscale neighbors did not take kindly to this effrontery. They protested to authorities. But the deed - that deed - was done. Paying for the loss of trees drags on. But that was not all. Kitsiopoulos burrowed on, It's what comes next that takes the cake. All was relatively quiet to "outsiders" until one night at the opening of a Board of Selectmen's meeting, a group of householders appeared to protest - that Rogue Developer had now constructed an oversized "wall" that would heighten his property and threatened to create more problems. They wanted to know why no one in authority had stepped in and stopped "RD." The answer only made the protesters more angry, and when Town Manager George King responded that they'd "done something" when he'd heard of it. This only raised the ire of the protesters, and Selectman John Kahn asked : Why hadn't a closer watch been imposed on a developer who had shown a tendency to cut corners? Hmm. This struck a chord in the audience. And King did a slow burn, as he is apt to do when his actions are closely questioned. Mark this. As I said last week "Listen Up or Stagnate"] - this particular exchange broke out at a Public Participation section . . . . at the beginning of the meeting [not mid-meeting as it is now]. People got their say . . . . on something that had gone unnoticed. It changed the meeting. Things did get done for a while. Under pressure and a court suit brought by town officials, RD fiddled with the Carter Dive Wall. But there is more - much more. The combination of a sagging wall and rain, homes on the lower end were flooded. Mushed up with a filthy slime that also invaded homes. Picture it yourself. Through nothing you've done your property has suffered an unremoved mess. RD is in no hurry. He could take two months to answer a weather inquiry. And officials seem unable to get around his delays. That's why you're aware of this mess. The Planning Board is holding hearings that could say Enough, get out! Considering this sorry record on non-compliance you could justify withdrawing the permit.
