Well, the feature is set in Preferences > Variables Only the FM internal colours can be defined here, neither user defined colours nor tint. The restrictions are due to the fact that this setting is session wide and hence independent of any documents (which could provide user defined colours). But the missing tint could be provided -> another feature request.
