It's a sad day for technical writers, but it's not a surprise. My

It's a 72 year old organization but I personally, could see the writing on the wall
(every pun intended) many years ago. After being a very active participant in the
organization for close to 15 years, I finally threw in the towel about 15 years ago. The
changing times w/ so much being available through a google search (and now AI) coupled
with this most recent generation's paradigm that "classic writing is dead"
kinda' foreshadowed its demise. It still hurts because during the years that I was
active, I made tons of great friends and contacts, and it was a cornerstone in helping me
launch my own business and even remain supported during the operation of my business. I
feel very old and yes, even bereft, reading this. I know change happens and we have to
adjust, but after being in the writing field for over 30 years, this is just a punch in
the gut.
