Yup something sounds wrong - I still run FM12 here at work & it doesn't behave
anything like that.

Was it installed as an Admin? Are the files all local? Do you have any plug-ins
that you're running? Is there anything else running that could be sucking up
processing power?

You should be able to import a PDF into a .fm page as an image (from what I
recall - I never do it). You won't be able to edit the text, but if that's ok,
then it would work fine.

Subject: [Framers] What should I check?

Hi folks,

Frame 12 is installed on my Windows 10 Pro for Workstations v22H2 with
64GB RAM and 650GB free disk space. I've been a Frame user since the
early 1990s, but am now mostly retired so I use Frame sporadically. Am
still using it as my word processor.

My main problem is that the program is very very slow to process each
action I've chosen. With an empty document, it takes many seconds too
long to switch to Master page. It takes 7 seconds to open a short
document I wrote last week. I have lists of spices on hand which use
different paragraph and character formats; it takes a long time to
switch between formats. So I must have installed and set up Frame on
this machine incorrectly. What should I investigate?

Also,

At the moment I'm trying to import a hand drawn road intersection with
the idea that I can use Frame to annotate it. I scanned the drawing into
pdf and have Acrobat XI version 11.0.23. Frame won't open the pdf.
Acrobat will let me convert the pdf into JPEG, JPEG2000, TIFF or PNG. In
Frame, I vaguely remember creating wallpaper with an image file, but not
well enough to know what to do. Is one of those formats acceptable?
Suggestions of what query to use to find out more would be appreciated.

Over the years I have learned many, many helpful things from Frameusers
list. I hope we have many more years of Frameusers. I've been reading
this list so long I think of many of you as my friends. And, thanks for
all the fish!

Best Regards,
Theresa de Valence
