FWIW, Adobe does not
officially support any applications on the
64-bit
editions of Windows. I have heard no
reports, good or bad, so far of any
use of FrameMaker in
such an environment.
On the other hand, I do know that the automatic
mechanisms for creation
of PDF -- use of AdobePDF PostScript printer
driver instance or built-in
FrameMaker "save as PDF" facility -- do not work
under Windows XP 64-bit.
Our advice is to consider Windows XP 64-bit edition as
more of an
experiment than a stable application environement
except for situations in
which you have both application programs and drivers
specifically written
for and tested in this environment. Also, unless one
has an application
program that specifically can make use of the large
address spaces
and special machine instructions of this environment,
one should not
expect any significant performance improvements with
existing software
in Windows XP 64-bit.
