xref "lists" that are pointing to the main chapter). The previous xml
files were about 2 Mb; the latest file is 24Mb.
Both of my attempts to open/convert the big bugger have failed. After
about 90 min, Task Manager's Performance window shows a rapid rise in MEM
Usage from about 700Mb to 2.15 Gb, and Frame displays one of its "Hmmm.
Dunno what's happening, but send us the error file and we'll look at it
(but we won't let you know the outcome)" messages. Killing that message
kills Frame.
Q1 Is the file too big for Frame? I can remember opening bigger files on
UNIX FM 5.1.
I'd never in a thousand years create a single file with that much content.
Not because FM cannot handle it, but because I'd be afraid that at any
point, the file could become corrupted (my favoritge is the message about a
file not being the right number of k in size).
Currently, my biggest FM file is 91MB. It's only 18 pages or so, but it is
from an imported Word file with lots of graphics, I'm slowly replacing the
graphics with references, but it isn't high on my priority list.
Anyway...I've dealt with large files, so I don't see that as an issue. My
guess is that it is corrupted, but that could have happened with any file
size. I guess it's time to go to your backup of the file an redo the work
from there.
