Hate to say it, but according to both Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary and the Oxford English Dictionary (OED), "appendix" is pluralized using either "-ices" or "-ixes," regardless of definition. Popular usage and preference may dictate differently, but the English language does not differentiate.

Appendices is the plural of appendix, the organ in your body. I've never heard that before and wonder how true it is.
