Is it possible to generate footer information to the master page from the SGML data in a document?

Louise,
It depends on what information you want to include in the footer. Check the User Guide (or online help) for Running H/F variables. You can include content from the first paragraph of the first (or last) element of a particular type on the page, display attribute values, and display the highest (or lowest) value of a choice attribute to appear on the page.
