The MIF filter provided with standard AuthorIt is an evaluation version that adds weird words in the import process. I tried it and it did so too. You have to buy the MIF filter extension.

Hi,
We have been asked to used AuthorIT to generate onlinr
help. Our source files are in FrameMaker, but when we
want to import these files into AuthirIT we getting a
lot of junk text. I wanted to konow if there is any
import tool where we can import .mif files into
AuthorIT. Any kind of help would be appriciated.
