Not to step on Lester's toes at all, but we recently had the same experience, setting up installation manuals for lighting fixture installations.
We wanted to include a full size template in the manual that an installer could use to drill mounting holes for the fixture. But if the PDF document was resized at all during printing, the drilling template wouldn't be accurate. So it's not an uncommon request.
