You can use a combination of conditional text, copy special, and find/replace. * Create a character tag to mark the text to be or dropped from the TOC. Define the all the character tag properties as As Is, using Commands > Set Window To As Is, so it doesn't change any of the selected text's visible properties. The tag is retained in the generated TOC. * Create a condition tag In the generated TOC, and apply it to an example word. Use Edit > Copy Special to copy the condition from the insertion point location to the clipboard. * In the generated TOC, use Find/Replace to find all occurrences of the character tag by pasting; this applies the condition to the tagged text. * Hide the condition to hide the text. Each time you regenerate the TOC, you'll need to repeat the Find/Replace All operation. You may want to show the indicators on the conditionalized text, to verify that the tagging is accurate.
