Hi, Emmy.

The "consensus" here in this list is that "Save as PDF" has problems with
proper PDF creation and printing to the PDF device is better. However, I am one
of the hold-outs against this general "consensus". From FM 6 on through FM 8, I
have found that "Save as PDF" gives me "more correct" PDF generation - I have
written about this in the past, so if you look at the archives, you will find
my comments.

With FM 9, I am not as sure yet - I have to repeat my usual PDF generation
tests again that I do with every new version of FM and have not yet done so (no
documents generated yet - haven't done much writing in the past few months).
Because my experience with every release of FM from 6.0 onwards has been that
the options you select, make FM either work or not work (with "repeatable"
crashes), and they seem to be different from each version on. Once I find the
right set of parameters, then everything is fine from that point ... till I
upgrade FM to the next version!

Regardless of my complaints about this issue, you would have to pry FM from my
cold, dead fingers before I would go use any other product (like Microsoft
Office Word ... even the Office 2010 that I now have) to get my documentation
work done! :)

Subject: Re: Can't produce PDF from FM 9 + Acr 9 on Windows 7

Hi Steve,

I am the team tester, so have no one else to compare notes with,
which is why I wrote to the list for advice.

Adobe PDF is the default driver. Distiller does create a PDF from
the postscript file created (from the same FM file) on my XP machine.

My understanding was that "Save as PDF" was the shortcut for
creating postscript and distilling, so I understood wrong?
