Hi Roy, I would suggest tracking your edits in pdf format. I've had great success with the "Comment & Markup" toolbar that Acrobat Pro offers. You can host a Shared Review that allows an entire team, regardless of geography, to collaborate on a document in real time. This can be accomplished either from a shared network location, or in a 'cloud' environment using Acrobat.com. It is easy to view and sort all edits in a list, and set status for each (accepted, rejected, etc.). There is also a Tracking feature that helps you stay organized when you have many docs in review. At an STC summit, I attended a seminar in which RJ from Adobe explained how this editing process could be automatically implemented into your Frame files, but I have not explored this feature. One huge benefit of this tool, especially from a budgeting point of view, is that one user with Acrobat Pro can enable the rest of his colleagues to participate in reviews, even when everybody else does not have Frame and/or has only a free version of Acrobat Reader. Basically, if the team has access to the internet, they can participate, with no excuses regarding their toolset or accessibility. I even took it a step further and created a formal signoff in this environment. To do this, I created a 'smart' form as a signoff sheet (using Adobe LifeCycle that is bundled with Acrobat Pro), attached it as a cover page to my .pdf files, and asked users to use the dynamic stamp tool to submit approvals. It was so intuitive that it was a piece of cake to implement. Hope this Helps, -David Warren Technical Publications Manager - Telegent Systems

Tracking edits functionality (Roy Lewis) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Message: 1 Date: Thu, 30 Dec 2010 14:51:59 -0800 (PST) From: Roy Lewis <[email protected]> To: Framers <[email protected]> Subject: Tracking edits functionality Message-ID: <[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Using Framemaker v8 on Win XP. We have just engaged the services of an editor who is using the track changes feature to explain edits and enter comments directly into the Framemaker files. The problem is that I am finding the track changes tool bar very limited in its functionality, for example, there are no accept and find next edit or reject and find next edit buttons which would greatly speed up the process of evaluating the edits once the editor id done with the files. How are other users dealing with this? Are there scripts or plug-ins that add functionality? Will this be addressed in later versions? Thanks so much.
