Hi Susan,

I used Mif2Go too, but I must admit that I'm even more happy with the results
we are getting from the latest Adobe Acrobat X Pro, using the Save As Word
function! This depends however on the native application (if it's Frame, than
you're good!).

Hi Framers,

Has anyone taken a gander at this product/service yet? I'm occasionally plagued
by co-workers who want editable Word versions of docs I create in Frame. The
Frame export to RTF leaves a whole lot to be desired and I'm wondering if this
new thing will produce a better formatted RTF file. Anyone know what the
limitations are? Does it choke on master pages and graphics?

Needless to say, the "FAQs" on the Adobe site aren't the questions I'd be
asking.?

Thanks.

...Susan

I'm not familiar with Adobe ExportPDF, but we use Mif2Go to convert FM to Word,
and it works wonderfully well. If you can't find the solution that you want
with Adobe ExportPDF, check out Mif2Go.

Susan,

I think that this is a web-based service, which means that we would not
be able to use it for any proprietary or sensitive information.
Virtually everything we do would be off limits.

One of my co-workers suggested using a similar service to convert some
CAD models to a different format, but was quickly cautioned against it.

What I've been doing (with chapters of a huge book, in this case) is printing
to PDF and sending the PDF chapter file to reviewers for annotation. The tool
they are using for review is NitroPDF Reader (free download) that provides the
same annotation capability that you pay for with Acrobat Pro.

When my colleagues request that, I simply give them an editable PDF. If they
complain and say they want a Word doc, I say, "Sorry, I don't work in Word.
This document meets your needs because you can edit it so make your changes and
comments and I am happy to incorporate them."

Adobe Reader, which is free, has full annotation capability as long as you open
your PDF in Pro and select Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader. Save it and
then send it to the SME.

I'll second the suggestion of Mif2Go. I use it a lot. There's a learning
curve, but it's very powerful and it makes great Word docs.

I'll third MIF2Go for FM>RTF, but if you really want to keep in
control of your reviews/reviewers, using Acrobat and commentable PDFs
is the way to go. If you have a newer version of FM, you can even
import the comments back into FM, although I tend to think that's
excessive. But the ability to track comments and edits and what you
did with 'em creates an audit trail that is priceless.
