Julie,
You can by using text insets.

You would need to create individual pieces of text, whether Frame or PDF.
The first time around you would have to manually insert each into the
respective position in the host Frame file using File > Import > File with
Import by Reference.

I would recommend creating a separate folder to contain the text insets.

If you make a change to a text inset, when you open the host file the content
will update automatically, as long as the path to the inset hasn't changed.

If your insets are PDF, you would want to keep them to a page or less.

I'm just curious if there is a way to automate merging parts of a pdf document
into an existing Frame file? By parts, I mean a specific paragraph, table,
figure, etc of a pdf file (not the entire file) that needs to be merged into an
existing Frame file. The different text/tables/figs would be quite random (not
standardized text/numbers) so I wasn't sure how it could be automated. or, What
if both files were Frame files, would there be a way to automate the merging of
two Frame files (again only specific text, tables/figs from one of the the
filed would be merged into the other). ThanksJulie
