Hi Linda,

Yes this is normal behavior because the variables are "refreshed" every time
you open the document. You need to apply the character tag as part of the
variable format definition. Please let me know if you have any questions or
comments. Thank you very much.

Subject: Applying a character tag to a variable

Win XP

FM 8

Framers,

I feel like I'm losing my mind. =:-o I could swear that I have been able to
apply a character tag to a variable and have it "stick." Now, I apply the
char tag, see the change (bold or italic), but when I reopen the file, the
char tag formatting is gone.

Is this normal behavior?

I'm using this in just a few places with things like product names when
they're in a book title or when they're part of a menu selection (Start >
Company name > product name). I'd really hate to have to create bold and
italic versions of these variables in each file. There are already quite a
few variables, and I really don't want more.

Ideas?

Thanks in advance!!
