Hi, This seems to be an as designed behavior of FrameMaker hotkeys. When you open a dialog by using a CTRL shortcut, the focus shifts from the document to the dialog. In this state, no other dialog can be invoked by a shortcut as the focus needs to be on the document for a shortcut to work. What you can try is after bringing up the paragraph designer [CTRL + m], use [SHIFT + F7] and then use [CTRL+ d]. This should open both the pods.
Hope this helps. I was wondering if anyone else was seeing the following issue. To bring up the paragraph designer pod, one users the hotkey ctrl+m. To bring up the character designer pod, one uses the hotkey ctrl+d. I noticed that if i bring up the characer designer, then I can not use a hotkey to bring up the paragraph designer. The converse is true as well, where if i have brought up the paragraph designer then a hot key cannot bring up the character designer. Anyone else seeing this? If you move the curser to a new location after opening the Paragraph, Character, or Table designer you can open either of the others with the keyboard shortcut. It seems to work in any order, but you have to move the curser each time. To me, this behavior is pretty "normal" ... meaning that once the paragraph (or character) designer pod comes up, the focus has changed and needs to be brought back to the document ... where the hotkeys are valid input. It is standard behaviour; the same is true in FM 7 or Word, and most other programs. It's just a little confusing in FM 9/10 because these pod-thingys don't look like regular dialog boxes. But in most programs, when a dialog is open, shortcuts only work in the context of that dialog. My thanks to the earlier poster who mentioned Shift + F7 to put the focus back in the document -- that means MANY fewer time-sucking mouse-clicks I'll have to use! s. -- Stuart Rogers Technical Communicator Phoenix Geophysics Limited 3781 Victoria Park Avenue, Unit 3 Toronto, ON, Canada M1W 3K5 +1 (416) 491-7340 x 325 http://www.phoenix-geophysics.com ------------------------------ _______________________________________________ You are currently subscribed to framers.
