Not sure if this helps, but are you aware that FM (at least as of FM10) is not set up to spell check books that are within books? You have to do book maintenance like that at the sub-book level.

I don't use conditional text or text insets, and the text I'm trying to find is not a variable or specially formatted. Frame is just blind to it sometimes. I can position the cursor immediately before the text I'm searching for and Frame says it's not there. There is no consistency or predictability to this behavior.
