I have also worked on a network for many years - both the Frame files and referenced graphics are on a network drive. Mostly this works really well, especially in recent years with network upgrades.

There are two occasions when I canremember having serious speed problems. The first was in 2008 when the company upgraded our antivirus software. It was set to scan certain types of graphic file as Frame was importing them. Excluding these file types from being scanned solved that problem. The second was earlier this month, again after an upgrade to the antivirus software. When importing a file from a network directory, the AV software decided it should scan that directory and any sub-directories first. Once that was turned off, speed returned to normal.

Just posting this in case it's of any use to anyone in the future.

Cheers

I'm not sure I can agree with this, although I suppose it depends on the
specific network involved.

I've been working here for several years with my Frame documents on a networked
SAN drive and never had any issues that I could identify, other than a slight
performance degradation when updating books or when building help from Frame
documents in WebWorks ePublisher.

OTOH, Flare 6 was almost unusable over the network because the performance was
so bad.

Keith

Ça va, Stephen:

Even though you say you've worked for several years this way, I'm strongly
inclined to agree with Jeremy. From what I've heard over the years, users
who try to use FM over a network have run into trouble at some point.
