How are the styles used is each of the books? It is probable that you can account for the differences with a simple format import. Don't differentiate between the two styles in the format catalogues. Apply a format with the same name in both cases. Then, have a template for the chapters and a template for the appendices. Or, simply a MIFsnippet with the chapter definition of ChapterHeading and another with MIFsnippet with the appendix definition of ChapterHeading. Before generating/updating, import formats from the chapter template (or snippet) into all chapter files and import formats from the appendix template (or snippet) into all appendix files. Eric L.
