Fast/easy methods of adding structure?

Hi Framers

We have a need to break a single element in one EDD into a 1:N element 
structure for another EDD: that is, add an extra level of granularity. Does 
anyone know of  a short-cut method/cheap plug-in that can help with this 
gruntwork task? Scripting is out here for cost/time/knowledge reasons.
