If you're only interested in identifying changes (as opposed to facilitating the acceptance or rejection of edits), you can always use the Compare Documents (File > Utilities > Compare Documents) to document what has changed between versions. It does avoid the color shock of tracking edits, particularly if you're deleting whole sections or pages rather than minor word or sentence changes.

I am doing some intensive documentation reviews with a developer. The content is complex and is going to be revised multiple times. The developer sensibly asked that I use track changes so that he only reviews new content and avoids reviewing old content. No problem, I thought, I'll just flip it on in FrameMaker. And hey it works exactly as intended, so no complaints there. However, there is one problem: using track changes while doing detailed edits is driving me crazy. The document is filled with green and red underlined text. Its almost visually painful (yes i exaggerate slightly). I have used the "preview final" option but whenever I perform another edit, the track changes come back. Is there any way to hide to the track changes while I work in the document and then display them right before I publish the PDF?
