Hi Salome... I didn't see a reply to this. No .. this isn't normal. If the conref disappears, then something is definitely wrong. Check the console window to see if there are any errors reported there. Is the conref source file in the same folder as the topic that contains the conref? (It doesn't have to be, but that's a good place to start if you're just experimenting.)
I assume that you're selecting the DITA-Topic-FM structure application when you're opening the topic?
